Job Description

The Assistant Soccer Coach will work closely with the Head Soccer Coach to assist in the planning, organizing, and coaching of the soccer team. This role will primarily focus on player development, practice coordination, and game preparation. The Assistant Soccer Coach should have a strong understanding of soccer techniques, tactics, and be able to effectively communicate and mentor players.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing player development plans.
  • Conduct individual and group training sessions to improve players’ skills and techniques.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to players for improvement.
  • Help plan and organize practice sessions.
  • Set up drills and exercises to enhance team performance.
  • Ensure that practice sessions are safe, organized, and productive.
  • Assist in creating starting lineups and substitutions during matches.
  • Provide support and encouragement to players during games.
  • Encourage a positive team atmosphere and sportsmanship.
  • Evaluate players’ skills and progress regularly.
  • Provide input to the Head Coach on player strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in player selection for matches and tournaments.
  • Ensure that all soccer equipment is properly maintained and available for use.
  •  Assist in recruiting and scouting potential new players.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous coaching experience at the high school, club, or college level is preferred.
  • Knowledge of soccer techniques, strategies, and rules.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Coaching certifications (e.g., USSF, NSCAA) are a plus.
  • Passion for soccer and a commitment to player development.
