Job Description

Elk Grove Soccer is a vibrant and community-oriented soccer organization located in Elk Grove, California. With over 6000 players and more than 300 coaches participating in our recreation and competitive programs, we are dedicated to providing top-quality coaching, facilities, and opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels. Our mission is to foster a love for the game, develop well-rounded athletes, and instill important values such as sportsmanship, teamwork, and perseverance.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as the Director of Coaching. The Director of Coaching will play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of our club’s programs, ensuring that our coaches, players and families have the support, resources, and guidance they need to effectively mentor and develop our players. The successful applicant will work and report to the club’s Sporting Director.

Responsibilities

  • Program Development: Work in tandem with the Sporting Director to develop and implement coaching programs that align with the organization’s mission, goals, and values. Continuously assess and refine the coaching curriculum to meet the evolving needs of our players and coaches.
  • Coach Recruitment and Training: Work in tandem with the Sporting Director to recruit, onboard, and train a diverse team of coaches to lead our recreation and competitive programs. Provide ongoing support, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to enhance coaching skills and effectiveness.
  • Player Development: Report to the Sporting Director on player development initiatives and curriculum implementation across age groups. Work closely with coaches to monitor player progress, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to support individual player development.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Foster open and effective communication channels between coaches, players, parents, and the organization’s Sporting Director. Collaborate with stakeholders to address concerns, resolve conflicts, and ensure a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Performance Evaluation: Establish clear performance metrics and evaluation criteria with the clubs Sporting Director to assess coaching effectiveness and program outcomes. Conduct regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback to coaches to support their growth and development.
  • Community Engagement: Represent Elk Grove Soccer in the local community and cultivate positive relationships with schools, youth organizations, and other stakeholders. Actively promote the organization’s programs and initiatives to attract new players and volunteers.
  • Coach Competitive Teams: Develop and execute age-appropriate training sessions to enhance players’ technical, tactical, physical, and social skills. Manage and lead teams on game days.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of coaching experience, preferably in youth soccer.
  • USSF B or equivalent coaching license required; Advanced coaching certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, curriculum design, and coach training.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong Marketing skills.
  • Passion for youth development and a commitment to promoting the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and integrity.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the demands of the role.
