The Director of Coaching is responsible for the management and development of coaches so that they can maximize player potential at all age groups. The position is responsible for the development and implementation of tactical, technical, physical, and psychosocial benchmarks at each age. The position is the lead for competitive soccer coaching development throughout the year, including training and providing technical assistance to both parent and professional coaches around all aspects of player development. The position is restricted from performing similar duties for other clubs or organizations without prior written approval from the Club Board. Position reports to the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive player development curriculum from 8U-16U
- Provide structured training for parent and professional coaches in August and March
- Support coach’s improvement and development through training, technical assistance, and evaluation
- Establish training structure, schedule, and guidelines
- Attend competitive soccer practices and games to evaluate player and coaching support needs
- Advise and/or assist coaches with resolving parent and/or player disputes within teams and advise the Board of the matter as appropriate.
- Assess teams to ensure that they are participating at appropriate levels in league and tournament play to maximize player/team/coach development.
- Conduct both formal and informal coaching evaluations and report quarterly to Board of Directors
- Due to the time commitments and need to work with ALL teams, candidate will not be the primary coach of any single team without Board approval.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a USSF D License or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years previous, high-level coaching experience
- Valid NYS Driver’s License
- Experience developing and implementing a developmental soccer curriculum
- Experience providing coach training and/or support
