Job Description

The Rogue Valley Timbers Soccer Club is searching for a director of coaching. The ideal candidate will be mission driven, customer service focused, and forward thinking. This position will be hired on an interim basis through November 30, 2024 with an excellent opportunity to be considered for permanent appointment based on need and performance.

Position Summary: The Director of Coaching (DOC) leads the growth and development of athletes and provides coaches with the leadership and resources to develop players technically and tactically. The DOC must have a strong soccer background and technical expertise to lead RVT’s coaching staff and possess strong communication skills, the ability to present information clearly, and the ability to listen to and resolve conflicts.

Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Recruit, develop, and manage both volunteer and professional coaching staff.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director to develop and implement club methodologies and curricula.
  • Work with the Manager of Special Programs/or camp and clinic staff to develop and deliver camps, clinics, and expand community offerings.
  • Manage soccer operations, including scheduling, game day preparation, equipment inventory, and requests.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of coaching staff across all levels.
  • Conduct regular evaluations and provide feedback to coaches (written and verbal).
  • Create and maintain a sustainable coach development plan.
  • Attend games and training sessions to observe and support coaching staff.
  • Assist in organizing and running club meetings, preseason meetings, and training seminars.
  • Assist coaches in obtaining professional licensing and coordinate local licensing and coaching education courses.
  • Work with technical director and staff to identify and/or create pathways for all levels of players within the club.
  • Set up an annual meeting with a college recruiting advisor to educate and assist high school players and their families in the recruiting process.
  • Develop a comprehensive college recruiting program.

Additional Duties:

  • Manage, distribute, and keep inventory of all training equipment.
  • Be an active member of the RVT leadership team.
  • Participate in the leadership and support of all RMC fundraising initiatives.
  • Play a critical role in operating our annual Memorial Day Weekend tournament.
  • Identify appropriate leagues/tournaments for teams.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community partners to enhance RVT’s mission.
  • Assist in resolving parent and player disputes and lead disciplinary processes.

We were originally founded in 1974 as The Rogue Valley Soccer Club and changed our name to the Rogue Valley Timbers Soccer Club in 2013. We are a non-profit 501-c3 organization with the mission of providing opportunities for children of all ages and abilities, to enjoy the game of soccer, in a healthy and safe environment regardless of their socioeconomic status.

The Rogue Valley Timbers is currently one of the largest youth soccer clubs in the State of Oregon and one of the largest youth organizations in the Rogue Valley. Each year RVTSC provides an opportunity to play soccer to over 2500 boys and girls ranging in age from 5 to 18 years old.
