Job Description
The Grants Manager will lead the grant program overseeing the application process from beginning to end. This role will develop and maintain a prospect portfolio, identify, and apply for various grants that meet the organization’s needs, and implement initiatives for effective solicitation and campaign support. This role will assist and collaborate with the entire Development team in creating concepts, letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, and other communications to meet departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain a foundation outreach plan aligned with the Development team’s monthly/annual fundraising goals.
- Engage new and lapsed foundation donors via email communications, web conferences, letters of inquiry, and personal visits (may be delegated) to further Development department goals and objectives.
- Researches various types of grants available and the criteria to qualify for each.
- Discusses available sources of funding with foundation administrative managers.
- Compiles necessary information for the application process through collaboration with other employees, database research, and other fact-finding actions and meetings.
- Drafts and completes grant applications according to application requirements.
- Ensures grants are submitted on time and within application parameters.
- Completes all documents, forms, or reports required by the grant.
- Coordinates the monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects that are funded by grants.
- Develops and maintains master files on grants and paperwork connected to programs funded by grants.
- Monitors, evaluates and measures grant income goals, and reports progress, as directed.
- Writes up Impact Reports to share with Development Team
- Writes up Cover Letters and Proposals for Development Team
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Thorough understanding and proficiency in effective grant writing techniques.
- Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication style.
- Ability to use Foundation Search Engines (Instrumental)
- Ability to secure information from multiple sources in a timely fashion.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate well with people from around the world.
- Advanced Microsoft Office software skills (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Extremely organized and meticulous with details.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to interpret financial data and prepare budgets and financial grant reports.
- Ability to be discreet with information that may be needed for some grants such as employee salaries or upcoming projects.
- Able to perform well under pressure.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional ministry environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

This job requires travel by car, train, airplane, or other vehicles to more than one site. This travel requires the ability to walk, stand, lift, and carry materials up to 50 lbs.; to push and pull; and to stoop, kneel and bend at the waist inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position and hours of work and days of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TRAVEL
Minimal travel may be required for this position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
- At least five years of experience in grant writing required.
Experience:
- Foundation Search Engines: 2 years (Required)
- Grant writing: 3 years (Required)
- preparing budget and financial grant reports: 1 year (Preferred)
Ability to Relocate:
- Santa Ana, CA: Relocate before starting work (Required)
