Organization Overview

Valor Soccer is one of the largest non-profit youth soccer clubs in Washington State. Currently Valor has over 4,000 boys and girls involved in its recreational and competitive programs. We are affiliated with the US Youth Soccer, Washington Youth Soccer, the North Puget Sound League, South Sound United League and USYS Elite 64. Our office is located in Maple Valley, Washington.

Job Description

The Recreational and Select Director is in charge of the entire Recreational program within the Valor Soccer organization, along with the pathway to Select, and the Select program. This position requires the oversight of coaching education along with a professional and organized ability to communicate well with the membership. He/She must possess an ability to work as a team player with employees as well as club volunteers. The Recreation Director must be very organized, and self-motivated and possess a background in soccer or youth and/or sports league administration.

The position requires an outgoing and approachable personality and the ability to work well with volunteers. The Recreational & Select Programs Director must possess the desire to make the Valor Soccer Recreational program, and pathway to Select the best in the state!

Qualifications

  • Youth sports administration and/or coaching experience
  • Highly organized and motivated professional
  • Adept with software programs (Google, Microsoft, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Collaborative working style
  • Experience running a youth and/or recreational sports program
  • Familiarity with PlayMetrics software system

Responsibilities

  • Manage team formation, coaching assignments and training and game schedules.
  • General day-to-day administrative tasks relating to the Recreational & Select programs. Prompt responses to phone calls, texts and emails.
  • Manage recruiting of volunteer coaches and provide coaching education with support and direction from the Technical Director.
  • Work in concert with the Valor registrar and field scheduler to coordinate reservation for training and matches, field operations and set up.
  • Plan, implement and manage skills clinics or other recreational camps and clinics.
  • Provide the club marketing staff with information for the website, social media channels and newsletter.
  • Build relationships with members of the Recreational and Select teams (coaches, parents and players) to retain and ultimately grow overall membership.
  • Regularly attend Recreational and Select practices and matches for oversight and quality control.
  • Identify higher level Recreational and Select League players and report those to the Technical staff for possible advancement to more competitive programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance at club events such as Valor Day, Cleat Exchange, Holiday Open House and other community-based gatherings.

Misecellaneous

  • SCHEDULE: Approximately 20 in-office hours per week, 20 on-site hours per week (depending on the time of year) – busiest months are March into June and from August through October.
  • COMPENSATION: $40,000-$50,000 Depending on experience. Bonus structure in place, benefits optional.
