Job Description

Sunnyvale Alliance is a community-based youth soccer club located in Sunnyvale, CA. We offer multiple levels of soccer including recreational and competitive soccer to youths 4-18. As our commitment to our community, we are proud of our robust financial aid program with nearly 20 percent of our players being offered financial assistance to learn and play soccer with us.

We are looking for a dynamic coach to join our community of soccer lovers. Your community is a collaborative and inclusive coaching environment under the direction of our executive coaching staff. Our ideal candidate loves sharing their love of soccer through their work in developing young soccer players. Our candidate must be open minded, adaptable and an enthusiastic learner in the craft of coaching.

The tasks of a head coach include the following as outlined by US Youth Soccer.

  • Coaching Games
  • Coaching Training Sessions
  • Leading the Team
  • Leading the Player
  • Managing the Performance Environment
  • Leadership

To fulfill these tasks, the following are some of the responsibilities you will be asked to fulfill:

  • Head coach to one or more competitive youth soccer teams and attend all training sessions and games.
  • Communicate with players with continuous verbal and written feedback.
  • Communicate with parents to keep them informed and answer any questions.
  • Collaborate and partner with other coaches on and off the field.
  • Work with parent volunteers who help manage the club and teams.

Interested applicants should possess the following:

  • Passion for all things soccer
  • Be enthusiastic to give to the community
  • Must have prior club level head coach experience. Senior head coach candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Minimum of USYS Grassroots 11v11 license. Senior head coach candidate must have a minimum of USYS C license.
  • High school, club, college soccer playing experience with strong understanding of the game.
    Enjoys working in a highly collaborative coaching environment and being part of a team.
  • Loves working with children, and can put players’ physical and emotional well-being as a priority.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Can bring high energy to create an engaging and fun environment for children to grow in their soccer talents.
  • Flexible and adaptable to new environments.
  • Enthusiastic learner
  • Responsible and punctual
  • A reliable means of transportation

Schedule:

Training and game schedules is variable so the candidate must have flexible schedule.
Must be available in the late afternoons to evenings for team training sessions during the week and be available on weekends for games.
The workload is higher during the soccer season and low to minimal during the off season.
