Job Description

A Staff Coach shall prepare and deliver coaching sessions for the assigned teams, attend and coach all team game activities, create a year-round training schedule, and identify tournaments and friendly games. A staff coach is also expected to deliver a professional customer service experience to the families associated within the club. In addition to team related activities the Staff Coach hold a supervisory role to the Team Coaches. The Staff Coach will also participate as a mentor coach to the volunteer coaches in the United community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct practices two times a week (1.5 hrs minimum) during the standard club season (March – February)
  • Create a year-round schedule (practices, games, tournaments)
  • Attend all Friendly, Tournament, and League play games
  • Provide player feedback to families
  • Ensure a positive playing environment for all players (50% playing time)
  • Recruit players to fill roster spots when needed
  • Manage team communications ensuring a high level of customer service.
  • Serve as a mentor for AYSO Core Coaches (E-mail support, one practice, and one game visit)

Representative Duties

  • Fosters teamwork throughout the Organization.
  • Promotes AYSO’s Vision, Mission and Six Philosophies.
  • Plans and manages internal communications and awareness of organizational needs, administration, and activities.
  • Assists with special projects as directed by the Director of Coaching
  • Associated duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong Team Management Skills
  • Enthusiastic, aggressive, self-starter, confident, professional, and a solutions-based problem-solver.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, written and oral.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with and maintain relationships with all levels of Parents, Players, Coaching Staff, Directors, Volunteers, Vendors and Program partners.
  • Ability to work independently, cooperatively, and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to initiate, coordinate and organize schedules/tasks through to completion accurately and on time.
  • Successfully pass criminal background check and credit check.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
