The Head Soccer Coach is responsible for the overall development of their assigned teams. This includes, but is not limited to preparing and managing training sessions, coaching all team game activities, creating a year-round training schedule, and identifying tournaments and friendly games. It is also expected that the coach delivers a professional customer service experience to the families within the club, maintaining open communication and transparent feedback on players development. All coaches in the club are expected to continue their own development and more experienced coaches may be called upon to mentor others.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct team training sessions two times a week (1.5 hrs per session) during the standard club season (Jan – May) (August – Nov.); following club training philosophy
  • Create a year-round schedule in consultation with club Director of Coaching (training sessions, games, tournaments, futsal)
  • Attend all Friendly, Tournament, and League play games
  • Provide player development feedback to players and families (2 time per year minimum)
  • Ensure a safe and positive playing environment for all players
  • Recruit players to fill roster spots when needed
  • Manage team communications, ensuring a high level of customer service

Qualifications

  • Experience as a head or assistant coach (or relevant playing experience)
  • Strong understanding of team tactical principles
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Familiarity with fitness and a tactical understanding of the game
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check and credit check
  • USSF National Grassroots license required; higher licenses preferred
